A Call to Action: Prostitution |
Can Knoxville’s congregations, ministries, businesses,
judicial system and community rise to the challenge together? Will we
choose to live in a community of complacency, part of a world that seems
to encourage degradation, exploitation and oppression - by doing nothing?
Will we choose to challenge the powerful, to build bridges that link
communities together instead of walls, around mankind?
Know that each Christian can do something about the plight of
victimization and exploitation through three acts:
1. Speaking up individually and collectively through prayer
(speaking to the God of justice, mercy and power) and through advocacy.
What truths can you tell on behalf of those being victimized? What power
can you bring to bear on their behalf?
Working to educate the church and public about the abuses and mobilize
interventions on behalf of all that are victims. Pray.
2. Standing with those exploited and victimized.
Exposing people to the consequences of their personal darkness by helping
them into the light.
Developing and supporting ministries that are working to find ways to aide
persons trying to leave the lifestyle. Serving as role models, surrogate
moms, babysitters, surrogate grandmothers, disciple makers, friends and/or
advisors.
3. Being used by God to deliver people from their oppression.
What excuses do we use to not let our “light shine” before others?
What might you and your closest Christian friend do together and when?
Do you feel God nudging you to answer this call? For more information

CURRENTLY THERE IS NO FAITH-BASED MINISTRY TO PROSTITUTES IN KNOXVILLE.
Pray earnestly.
Pray for God’s heart and strength to begin.
Pray for Teen Challenge as they are trying to obtain a house for
this specific purpose. (Contact: Executive Director Barbara
Mitchell, 546-8933)
Pray for unity and protection as Christians heed this most difficult
call. |
