A Call To Action!
Is there any place where the church of Knoxville could make a bigger
impact in the lives of children than having them join our own families?
Agencies providing support for
Foster Care/Adoption:
Bethany Christians
Services, 865-588-5283
Bethany Christians Services provides licensed interim care homes for
infants and young children of the birth parents who are considering
adoption. This care is usually of very short duration as it is our goal
that the child be united with their forever family as quickly as possible.
These families are Christian families who feel called to be supportive of
birth parents who have chosen life for their child and are considering an
adoption plan.
Camelot Care Centers,
Inc, 865-481-3972
Since its beginning in 1972, Camelot Care Centers, Inc. has been committed
to the belief that we are “Meeting families at
the Crossroads, helping them build Bridges, and make Connections.”
The Bridges Therapeutic Foster Care Program reflects this
philosophy, helping children build positive connections while in care that
will serve them throughout their lives. Permanency can occur for children
with the involvement of caring and loving families who help them reach
their goals. Our in-home counselors and foster parents partner together
to create a unique blend of support, structure, nurturing, and caring that
promote the child’s growth and success. Camelot foster parents receive
free training, in-home support services, 24-hour crisis support, respite
days that allow parents to rest and recharge, mileage reimbursement, and a
monthly stipend for the care of each foster child. Contact Zan Schriver
at (865) 481-3926 ext. 404 for further information on becoming a foster
parent or for speaking engagements.
Child and Family
Tennessee, 865-524-7483
Child and Family Tennessee has over 100 State custody children in our
care. Probably 20-25 currently are in need of a therapeutic foster home.
We have a limited number of foster homes for our children and so often
must sub-contract these services from other providers, as homes are
available. We serve mainly highly therapeutic children, although we do
currently serve one minor mother living in one of our homes with custody
of her baby. Like most private providers we offer a daily rate of $30,
$35, $40, or $50 according to the service needs of the child. We also
offer 24-hour crisis support, two weekends respite per month, and an
annual community involvement incentive for each child, and regular foster
parent support groups. Our Family Specialists have a case load of between
6-10 according to number of children in a home, geographical location, and
the level of treatment needs of the children. We feel that each child
deserves a home and are dedicated to finding and supporting a loving,
caring, consistent home for every child in our care.

Helen Ross McNabb Center,
865-637-9711
We use foster homes to provide a safe and supportive home in which
children's emotional, physical, and social needs can be met. These
children range in age from birth thru 21 years and are considered Level 1
children, with little to no special or therapeutic needs. Foster families
with the department often end up adopting their foster children if the
child is unable to return to their birth family. For families looking to
make a smaller commitment, the department also uses emergency and respite
foster homes for short-term placements ranging from 1 to 30 days.
Holston
United Methodist Home for Children, 865-691-9963
Holston serves children who are in custody of the Department of Children's
Services. We serve children of all ages, birth to 21, but our biggest need
is for foster parents to care for adolescents, age 12 - 18. Most of our
children have emotional and behavioral problems, and we also care for
children who are designated as medically fragile due to a specific medical
need that could not be met in their birth homes.
Knox County Foster Care
Association, Lawrence Cash, 865-947-7856
The association is an organization that consists of foster parents, DCS
Staff, and all other concerned citizens who are interested in foster
children. We exist for the purpose of fellowship and encouragement to one
another; learn better ways of fostering and to provide children a safe and
secure home. This support network is the best way to stay involved and up
to date on what is going on with local foster and adoptive parents. KCFCA
helps resource parents to keep up training requirement, conferences, and
what's new with the state.
Noah's Ark, 865-971-3570
We are a foster care program, which is division of Catholic Charities of
East Tennessee. We serve children who are in state custody due to neglect
and/or abuse. Our niche is that we are a private nonprofit agency with
extra resources to help the foster children, foster families and the birth
families. We are a team working together to help all who are involved. We
are broadening that niche by being able to serve Spanish speakers,
pregnant teens, higher needs children, and we have interest from foster
parents to work with medically fragile children.
Omni Visions, 865-524-4393
Omni Visions started 12 years ago with a BIG VISION that every child
deserves a home. We strive to think outside the box to help families
and children find solutions to the problems they face. Our goal is to
provide children with a home environment where they can be physically,
emotionally and spiritually healthy. We encourage the development of
relationships where safety and quality of life are paramount. We offer
24-hour support; encourage positive role modeling, behavior management,
and work hard to quickly establish permanency for children through
reunification with birth families or placement with adoptive families.
Omni Visions also has an innovative Friend/Mentor program where adults can
enhance a child's life without being a full time parent. We are looking
for energetic, creative and loving people who are willing to open their
home to a child in need. Please stop by our booth to discuss how you can
make a positive difference in a child's life.

Adoptions and foster care.
Youth Villages,
865-560-2558
Youth
Villages is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help children
and families live successfully. We provide therapeutic foster care for
children ages 11-17 who are in state's custody. The children we serve have
often experienced abuse and neglect that has resulted in the development
of a variety of emotional and behavioral issues. Youth Villages provides
weekly therapy and behavioral management services for the children to help
them become successful and to raise their self-esteem. We recruit and
train foster parents to become professional therapeutic treatment parents
in order to provide the best environment we can for children in need.
