The Lighthouse at
Austin Homes (founded in March 2001) serves the housing development of
Austin Homes in inner-city Knoxville six days per week. The Lighthouse has a
full-time missionary on staff, as well as dozens of volunteers from
multiple churches who serve to build long-term relationships with and
among the community. Spiritual, educational, vocational, nutritional,
emotional and basic needs support are offered in a safe, welcoming
environment that fosters authentic relationships. Our vision is for God to
completely transform lives, families and a community in need of hope.
Ministries include:
Tutoring, art classes, and Bible
classes for children
Prayer Ministry, Bible study,
Discipleship and Seniors Ministry
Community Festivals and Holiday
Celebrations
Adult classes (cooking, home
economics, life skills)
The Lighthouse Learning Center
(computer job skills training)
Partnerships with other
community organizations and churches
Food pantry, clothes closet,
household goods ministry
